Stillman Bank Contributes $20,000 to Flagg-Rochelle Park District REC Center

The REC Center, a 91,000 square foot space, is Rochelle’s brand new Community Recreation Center owned and operated by the Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District. The REC will allow for a variety of activities – from basketball, soccer, football, golf, volleyball, soft/baseball with the indoor turf and multi-purpose flooring in the fieldhouse; to swimming, water aerobics, and swim lessons in the aquatic center. A state-of-the-art fitness center and group fitness classroom as well as two multi-purpose rooms and an outdoor patio for gathering space are included. The lobby is an open flexible space for small organization meetings, social gatherings and so much more.

Tim Hayden, Board President of the Flagg-Rochelle Park District, stated “On behalf of the board, staff and all of the local taxpayers that we represent, we would like to extend our gratitude to Stillman Bank for their generous contribution to The REC. The REC will be a wonderful community asset for many years to come and we are proud to call Stillman Bank a partner in the successful community events that will happen within those walls. The support of local business, like the support of the residents, is appreciated as we bring a new asset to our community.”

“As a locally-owned and headquartered financial institution, we have been committed to our communities for over 138 years,” stated Martin C. Larson, Stillman Bank Chairman & CEO. “It is an honor to partner with the Rochelle Park District, as they provide such beneficial services to Rochelle and the surrounding area. We are excited about the new opportunities The REC Center will bring and are delighted to do our part in helping make this vision a reality.” Larson also acknowledged that Stillman Bank is making their contribution in recognition of Dick Gensler’s 21 years of service on the Stillman Bank Board of Directors. “Dick has always been proud to be a citizen of Rochelle and we hope this donation helps illustrate his mission and continued commitment to the Rochelle community.”
